What are you looking at?

What are you looking at?, originally uploaded by kfoz.

The Barkus dog parade took place yesterday in the French Quarter, and I couldn't resist stopping by. I parked along a street in Treme and was immediately joined by a group of huge pit bulls who were also on their way to the parade. I ended up spending a lot of time taking pictures of the many pits and their families. More to follow...

AAAHHHH THAT'S PHOENIX AND TRAP JACK!!

hahaha Did I even see you? It was such a crazy day - I've never seen Barkus that big!

And for everyone else: Phoenix is the pittie looking at the camera, she is a post-Katrina rescue who was doing her first Barkus. She's also deaf. My dog Trap Jack is the brindle pittie on the left side with beads on his face - also a rescue, and the former temperament-testing dog at the LASPCA. It was his second Barkus :)

Phoenix reminds me of the pittie featured in Lil Rascals. (I know-it's not the same-his eye circle was applied...but anyway.) You made me smile!
